These newlyweds are particularly special to me– they first reached out in early 2019 for pre-wedding photos as they were in the midst of planning their wedding. They were looking for a light and airy style, and ultimately decided to go with my photography services because we were able to show them several examples of prior client work featuring my long-standing partnership with Nicole to provide inclusive photography packages with hair and make-up services, so they could make a confident choice in the style of their wedding photos.
We had two pre-wedding photo sessions with this couple: the first was in the summer of 2019 at Mt. Rainier, and the second was in January 2020 at Leavenworth. After their snowy Leavenworth session, the COVID-19 pandemic began– delaying their wedding from the summer of 2020 to 2021. During this time, they invited me to photograph their Bridal Shower in June 2020. Later, Wenye graduated from her PhD program in June 2021, and asked me to take photos for her graduation portrait session. I am very honored they chose me to help document their life milestones along the way. A few months before the wedding, Wenye became pregnant, but she did not plan to delay the wedding again– rather, she especially sought our help with ordering a custom wedding dress that would suit her best on her big day.
We previously collaborated with several of the vendors at this wedding, or had been looking forward to an opportunity to work with them. Callarose and Co has provided the florals for us at numerous photo sessions. Debby of Lovelyvows is an extremely responsible and detail-oriented Wedding Planner that we have worked with countless times. The newlyweds ordered 220 cups of bubble tea from local mom-and-pop business, Young Tea, for the guests, which was a very fun and unique addition to the wedding. Because of this, I was also able to become good friends with the owner of Young Tea. Additionally, Sweet Wedding Thing, the vendor for paper goods, had a very strong eye for design, and we have several upcoming collaborations that I am very excited about. Lastly, Peter, the wedding videographer, ended up reaching out to me for a family portrait session.
In a way, this was a test of my photography skills. From the time they first reached out to me and signed the contract in February 2019, to their wedding in September 2021, I have further grown and developed as a photographer, and am very proud of the final photo gallery I was able to share with this couple.
